[QGIS Basic] How to Download and Install the latest QGIS software

Hello everyone, today I will guide you to download and install QGIS software in the most methodical way

DOWNLOAD QGIS SOFTWARE

To have the software, first we need to download it to the computer. The fastest way when we don't know what to do, there is nothing better than searching Google. We go to Google and search for the keyword download QGIS

Google will return the page results that allow downloading software from qgis.org itself. We access that page (It is the main page, not afraid of fake softwares or malicious codes inserted)

For those of you who are too lazy, here is the direct link, just click on it and.. voilà, we will go to the QGIS download page

This is the interface of the homepage to download the QGIS software, here we will have a lot of options to choose from. (Too much is also confusing :') )

Depending on the computer operating system you are using, we choose the corresponding QGIS version, for example, if you are using Windows, select the Download for Windows section.

Here there will be 2 options:

1. QGIS in OSGeo4W (recommended for regular users): This section is for those who want to install the full set of QGIS and the things that come with it but want to control what they install on the machine. It's a bit complicated if it's the first time you install it
2. Standalone installers (MSI) from OSGeo4W packages (recommended for new users): This is the simplest one that we will choose, it will pack all the necessary things for QGIS to work smoothly into a single installation file, click and run

In the Standalone installers version, we still have 2 choices:

1. Latest release (richest on features): For those who like the latest, latest functions, but in return will have to trade with stability when using. Using this version we may encounter errors that have not been detected and fixed by QGIS.
2. Long term release (most stable): For everyone, who wants stability while using, avoiding errors in use, the software crashes, for example.

I would encourage you to choose the Long term release (most stable) version, because we don't know if those new functions in the other version will be used, and if we are processing data up to 99.9%, then the software stops, we might cry a river.

Just click and download, the QGIS 3.22.4.1 version I'm downloading has a capacity of more than 1GB, let's put it aside and make a cup of coffee ^^

QGIS SOFTWARE INSTALLATION

After downloading the software, we proceed to install the QGIS software on the computer.

Because this is open source software, the installation is as simple as other software, just click next next, choose a save location.

When the dialog box says Finish, it is done, we can start using QGIS

OPEN QGIS SOFTWARE AFTER INSTALLATION

After installation, usually QGIS will create a folder of shortcut to start QGIS right off the Desktop screen.

In addition, you can also open the Window Start Menu bar and search for the word QGIS to find the QGIS software, click on it to open the software.
